====== GSL28A Operating Instructions ====== POWER ON Press red button for about six seconds. The pager turns on, and the sound or vibration alert is generated for 16 seconds. POWER OFF Press o white button until the setup menu appears. Press < or > to choose “POWER OFF”, then press red button to confirm. READ INCOMING PAGE Press red button to read an incoming page. Press < or > to scroll through the messages that have been received by the pager. If there are no messages in the pager, a display showing “NO MESSAGE” will appear. If there are messages stored, the screen will show how many “UNREAD” messages, and the number of “TOTAL” messages stored in the pager. DELETE ALL MESSAGES While on the standby screen, press o twice. Press < or > until “ALL” is flashing. Press the red button to confirm you want to delete all messages. Any protected (locked) messages will not be deleted. DELETE A SINGLE MESSAGE While reading the message you want to delete, press the o button. Press the < or > button until “DELETE” is flashing. Press the red button to confirm the deletion. PROTECT (LOCK) A MESSAGE You can protect (lock) a message to prevent accidental deletion. While reading the message you want to protect, press =.button. Press the < or > button until “LOCK” is flashing. Press the red button to confirm the lock. A small picture of a lock will show up on the message screen beside the date. SETTING THE TIME AND DATE Press the o key to enter setup menu. Press the < or > key until “TIME” is flashing. Press the red key. Use the < and > keys to scroll through the “A” for AM and “P” for PM. Press the red key to move to the hour digit. Again, use the < and > keys to scroll through the hours. When you get to the correct hour, press the red key to move to the minutes digits. Continue on until all digits of the time and date are set correctly. Press the red key to confirm the settings are correct. SETTING THE ALARM Press the o key to enter the setup menu. Press the < or > key until “ALARM” is flashing. Press the red key. Use the < and > keys to turn the alarm on (picture of an alarm) or off (shows a capital “A”), then set the time and alarm on or off using the same procedure as when you set the time. Press the red button to confirm the settings. SETTING THE AUTOMATIC POWER ON/OFF Press the o key to enter the setup menu. Press the < or > key until “AUTO” is flashing. Press the red key. Press the < or > key to scroll between “ENABLE” and “DISABLE”. Press the red button to set the “ON” and “OFF” times. When you are done programming these in, press the red button to confirm these settings. MELODY SETTINGS Press the o key to enter setup menu. Press the < or > key until “MELODY” is flashing. Press the < or > keys to scroll through the different melodies. When you find one you want to use, press the red button to confirm this setting. CONTRAST SETTING You can lighten or darken your screen for easier reading. Press the o button twice. Press the < or > key until “CONTRAST” is flashing. Press the < or > key to adjust contrast. When you have reached the desired contrast, press the red button to confirm the setting. ALERT MODE SETTING You can switch between different types of alerts: Buzzer (audible alert), Motor (vibration alert), or Mute (no alert). There is an option for “PUBLIC”, but this is not available in our pager area. To change the alert mode setting, press the o button twice. Press the < or > button until “ALERT” is flashing. Press the red button. Scroll between the different types of alerts until the one you want is flashing. Press the red button to confirm the setting. DISPLAY MEMORY OCCUPANCY You can check to see how much of the memory you have used up with stored pages by using this feature. Press the o button twice to enter the setup menu. Press the < or > button until “MEMORY” is flashing. Press the red button. The percentage of memory used will show up in words and a bar graph. If there is no memory left, a display showing “MEMORY FULL” will show. You will have to delete some of the stored messages to clear the memory. To exit this screen, press the red button. BATTERY INFORMATION When the battery is getting low, your pager will alert you with a picture of a battery on the screen, and the words “LOW CELL” on the display. The indication will disappear only when the user replaces the old battery with a new one. The pager will stop working if the power is too weak to support the pager’s functions. To change the battery, turn off the pager. Unlock the battery door and push open. Take out old battery and replace with a new AAA alkaline battery. Make sure polarity (“-“ and “+”) on the battery matches the symbols on the pager. Replace battery door and slide lock back into place. Pager can now be turned back on. **Important – always use an Alkaline battery for proper pager functioning.
